What tags are for

  • They're what your phone's player, iTunes, Windows or your car show: title, artist, album, artwork and lyrics.
  • Distributors (DistroKid, CD Baby…) use the details from their form, not the file's: fill them in there too.
  • In WAV files we write them twice (LIST/INFO for Windows and ID3 for everything else), because each program reads one.
  • The audio isn't touched: the copy sounds exactly like the original.
