Artwork

  • Artwork: Check it

You haven't added artwork: every distributor asks for it.

How to fix it: Add it above to check it: a square 3000 × 3000 px JPG in RGB.

Details

  • Title: Will be rejected

    Type the song's title.

  • Main artist: Will be rejected

    Type the artist's name.

  • Year: Good to know

They'll ask for the release date and the recording year (℗).

  • Songwriters: Check it

DistroKid asks for the real name of whoever wrote the song (that's how songwriting royalties are paid), and Apple Music for the composer.

How to fix it: Type real first and last names.

  • ISRC: Good to know

No ISRC: your distributor will give you one for free. If the song came out before, reuse the same one.

  • Explicit lyrics: Good to know

    No

If it has swearing, violence or sexual content, mark it as explicit: stores can take down a mislabelled song.

  • Made with AI: Good

    No

No AI declared. If an AI generated the lyrics, the vocals or the music, declare it: DistroKid asks when you upload.

What we can't check (check it yourself)

  • If the artwork has text, it must match exactly the artist and title you type when uploading (TuneCore, CD Baby and Ditto check it).
  • No websites, QR codes, @handles, or social media or store logos (Spotify, Apple Music…).
  • No prices or words like «new», «exclusive», «CD» or «vinyl» on the artwork.
  • Sharp: nothing blurry, pixelated, rotated or forcibly upscaled.
  • No nudity or graphic violence, and nothing offensive about race, religion, gender or orientation.
  • You own the rights to the image: no unlicensed stock photos or famous artists.
  • Different artwork for each release (DistroKid may reject duplicate artwork).
  • Don't add the «Parental Advisory» logo if the lyrics aren't explicit (Ditto rejects it).
  • Don't imitate the voice, name or image of real artists: Spotify, DistroKid and Amuse forbid it.
  • You own the rights to everything: samples, lyrics and, if you used AI, a plan that lets you release what it generates.
